My Experience in studying writing two with Mrs. Leni Marlina
Every
Wednesday at 8:50 A.M was my time to study writing 2 with Mrs. Leni Marlina c.
She was my lecturer, which the pair lecturer of Mr. Muhammad Ansyar, in writing
2 subject. Mrs. Lina, her nickname, explained us how to make several kinds of texts
through the correct process. Honesty, I feel many good and terrible experiences
during I studied with her. After I did all the assignments, I choose one of my
best projects. This essay will tell about my experience in studying writing 2
with Mrs. Leni Marlina and my best writing project.
If
we talk about the experience, I would like to tell about the makeup class. Every
Saturday, three classes that studied writing 2 with Mrs. Lina, K-1, K-2, and
NK-2, were studying in a room called “LD1”. Imagine, we should study in a very
small class with more than sixty students in that class. It must be hot, tight and crowded. Although
there are some disadvantages, I think this is a good way to share our ability
in others class’ students and corporate each other.
The
second experience was about the assignments and pressure. Mrs. Lina gave us a
lot of assignments this semester. Started from free writing about experience in
studying writing 1 last semester and my expectation in studying writing 2, then narrative text,
discussion text and the last is review text. After we finished, we share it
into a blog. Actually, the big pressure is the deadline. Imagine, we should
make a text in a short time; we do pair assignments, made the revision and
shared it into a blog. Honestly, I could
not stand for working under pressure, but I should do this if I want to pass
from this subject.
Even
though we should do many assignments and got the pressure, I got much new
ability. However, I know Mrs. Lina has a purpose to make us strong like steel.
Implicit, she train us to reduce the wrongness and prepare us to make the final
assignment “Paper”. Be caused of that reason, I have learned about how to make
a good text based on the right process. First
of all, we make a text, and then we should copy it and share it for several
classmates. The classmates who get the text will find some incorrect and give
any suggestion. That process call pair
correction. Next step was do revision according the classmates’ suggestion.
Repeat them many times for the perfect result. The last step, share it into a blog. People in
our circle allowed leaving a comment after they read our text. It may be some
suggestion or correction. As a result, I can correct my wrongness in writing
that I do not aware before.
Next, I explain about my best writing
project in writing 2 “discussion text”. The title is “Pro
and Contra the Removal of English at Elementary
School Curriculum”. I choose it because of the topic and
the process. Recently, it is become a hot issue in many forum discussions; some
say agree and others not. I as a student
in English Department disagree with this decision. As a result, I emphasize my
opinion through my discussion essay.
I
took very long process to make an discussion essay. First, I chose the topic
that I wanted to discuss. Second, I made the outline point by point. Next, I collect many sources from internet. There
were some evidences which emphasize my idea. After that, I develop it into an essay. I made
the essay according the right elements of an essay. Then, I did pair correction
and did revision until four times. Finally, I shared it into a blog.
In
the conclusion, I have much good and bad experience when I studied writing 2
with Mrs. Leni Marlina. Because of the experiences, I could increase my ability
in writing. As a result, I am glad to say my discussion essay was my best
writing project from all of writing projects although I made it with very long
process. In addition, I have a
suggestion with this subject. It would be better if Mrs. Lina change the way of
teaching to make the students enjoyed to study writing 2.

Brave, an animation movie, released on June 22, 2012 in United
States. It is based on the story was created
by Brenda champman. This movie which is
produced by Katherine Sarafian is also directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman.
For making the character and the picture, Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios take a place. Using
the budget $185milion, they succeed to make a very good movie that be box
office in the world. This movie starring by Kelly Macdonald as Merida, Emma Thompson as Queen
Elinor, Billy Connolly as King Fergus and Julie Walters as The
Witch. Brave also won the Academy Award for Best Animated Film, the Golden Globe Award for Best
Animated Feature Film, the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film and also be
nominated in several awards in the world.
This movie told about Merida, a princess in Dunborch kingdom who loves
archery. She lived in a castile with Her mother, Queen Elinor; who used to
force her to be a real princess and love to sew a tapestry, her father, king
Fergus; who hunting a bear after he lost his left leg because of a bear (Mor’du)
attacked, her triplet’s brother and also a lot of guards and maids. Merida
could not stand with her mom. Once, Queen Elinor forced her to choose one of
the three clans to be her husband. The girl was innocent succeed to embarrass
the three clans.
The conflict happened. With emotional condition, Merida broke her mom’s
tapestry. Her mom was really upset and then she burn Merida’s bow. Merida cried
and ran to the forest, she suddenly met will-o-the-wisps that direct her to
witch house. As Merida’s requesting, the witch gave her a cake that will change
her fate. A strange happened after Merida gave it to her mother; she changed
into a big black bear. According to the witch, the magic can be permanent in
second summer if Merida cannot break up the mystery.
Brave
movie also has critical responses, included positive and negative critics. Starting
form Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times said that
the film did have an uplifting message about improving communication between
mothers and daughters, although transforming your mother into a bear is a
rather extreme first step. In contrast, Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter gave negative review, stating that
the film "diminishes into a rather wee thing as it chugs along, with climactic drama
that is both too conveniently wrapped up and hinges on magical elements that
are somewhat confusing to boot."
Overall, I like this movie, the characteristic could give a strong image that
made the audience enjoyed to watch. The audience also could feel the several
emotions that were sad, funny, tight, and the climax part was very touching.
Actually, the story is relevant in our environment. Many parents always force
their child to be someone who they want. Brave teaches us to brave change our
fate. No one can reach our fate. This
film also considered us that listening to others are very important.
Conclusions, I suggest all of the people for watching this movie because it
gives up many lessons. Everybody can catch the moral value and applying it in
daily life. This movie also relevant in our environment, this movie can give
many lessons for parents, who force their children, to listen what the children
wants. Even though this movie is good, I
warn for the children should not watch alone. The adults should control them
because many pictures in that movie are not suitable for children. Then, change
your mother become a bear is a terrible attitude.

Phonetics
and phonology, an introductory course book, was created by Refnaldi in
2008. This book was special for students
in English language teaching study program at Universitas Negeri Padang. This book used in phonetics and phonology
subject for students in the third semester. It consisted of 240 pages and it is
available in every book store with reasonable price. The interesting one was
the bibliography which had thirty eight sources (normally, it less than 25
sources).
This
book discussed as many as fourteen chapters and several sub-chapters. In the First,
discussion began with introduction, which was about phonetics and phonology and
the differences. The second was
production of speech, students learned about articulation; included the place
articulation and manner articulation. Consonants were in the third chapters, it
had several sub chapter; fricatives, stops, Affricates, Nasals, Liquids,
Glides, and Syllabic Consonants. Forth was vowels, it discussed about how vowel
was produced and the classification. In Fifth was acoustic phonetic which also
had two sub-chapters; fundamental and speech sound.
In
the sixth chapter was natural class of sound or distinctive feature. The
phoneme and the English phoneme were in seventh and eight chapters which about
identifying phonemes and the rule. Next, phonological alternation, process and
rule discussed the differences between three of them. Structure of the syllable can be discussed in
the next chapter “Syllables”. Then, English
word stress and the rhythm of English were focused on tenth and eleventh
chapters. The twelfth was connected speech and intonation which would discuss
about assimilation and tones group. The
last was constrains: optimally theory, it was focused on the basic concept of
optimally theory.
According
to me, this book had excesses and the lacks side. The excess of this book was
the completeness. The student could learn about phonetics and phonology with
more detail. It also has many pictures that emphasize the writer’s idea. Every
chapter also had exercises that would test the student’s knowledge about the
lesson. For the lacks, the language that was used in this book was little bit
hard to understand. Sometime, the students are difficult to find the core of
the lesson.
In conclusion, I suggest all of the students who
learn phonetics and phonology to read this book. The completeness can give more
knowledge about phonetics and phonology. This book also easy to find, the
students can buy this complete book in every book store. I believe this book will better if the writer
can revise this book and use the words can be easy to understand for the
students.
